Elli Lestas is a contemporary nature and environmental artist. The work revolves around nature as the key theme by drawing, photography and making sculptural objects using natural materials from found things from around the countryside and coastal areas of Cyprus and Uk.
Some of the preliminary processes used are flower pressing, sun drying and photographing stages of decay and alchemy which produce interesting results to draw. The drawings are not just an accurate rendering of dried and decaying plants but   intuitive  works of art that capture the life force or essence of their former life.
Current materials being used are watercolour applied  freely, allowing   the  chance stains to play out, then working over the top with layers of charcoal and pastels.
The work is a quiet collaboration with nature with the purpose of intuitive image making to transfer the metaphysical force of a natural being onto the physical dimension of a drawing
